This place is a jewel of a restaurant nestled in a small shopping plaza in heart of College Station. Food is excellent and very authentic Indian dishes!!! So thankful to have it! Looking forward to many more visits to my new favorite restaurant. Highly recommended!!!

Food came out quickly and no wait to be seated. Nice ambience. Ordered samosas, chicken Manchurian, lamb fry biriyani, mango lassi and sitaphal shake. Samosas and chutneys were a great match, and Manchurian was very tasty with a not too liquid sauce. Lamb fry biriyani was well seasoned, with my only gripe being the meat was slightly dry. Overall, the best of the four Indian restaurants I've tried in college station.

Monks has great Indo Chinese food, ambience and hospitality. Staff was welcoming and patient enough to answer all the questions. Menu was large and had many options, food came out quickly, all of them tasted great including street style noodles especially biryani and tandoori were best. Must visit and the best in csat.

I recently tried out this new Indian restaurant in College Station, and it was absolutely worth the hype! Chicken Dynamite Biryani This dish stole the show! It had the perfect blend of bold spices If you love biryani with a spicy punch, this one hits the spot. Street Style Wings (Red) These wings were bursting with flavor vibrant red spice blend that reminded me of Indian roadside food stalls. Fiery Schezwan Chicken Great as a starter or will be good if even paired with fried rice or noodles. They gave a complementary desert (apricot delight) which was delicious. Overall flavors were on point, portions were generous, and the service was friendly and quick. This place is a fantastic addition to the College Station food scene, especially for anyone craving bold, spicy Indian and Indo-Chinese flavors. I’ll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu!

This is my 3rd time here and every time has been VERY good!!! I’ve challenged myself to eat Indian food 3+ times per week in Houston and this place can hold its own against good places there! I was once told to judge an Indian place by its biryani and theirs is AMAZING!! I haven’t say that the staff and Sanjay really care about the guest experience also, so you should enjoy it! I’m a 30 yr chef and I know good food… these folks have a damn good formula. :)

In my opinion and based on our experience. Glad the Indian food scene in College Station is hotting up, with The Monk’s Indian Bistro being the latest entrant. Part of the Monk’s family of restaurant from the Houston metro area. Located in a strip center off Hwy 6 near Holleman. Went for dinner with family. Tasteful and understated decor, prompt greeting and seating. Tried to order Masala Chai, but they said they were out of it (not sure how one could run out of Chai in an Indian place). Instead, ordered Limca, Arka Beer (an Indian-style brew actually brewed locally by Abita; clean and smooth-tasting), Mango Lassi, Gongura Chicken Biryani for one, Gongura Chicken Curry, Vegetable Hakka Noodles, Okra Masala Fry, and Tandoori Roti. Food was served promptly, in tasteful copper bowls, and was hot, spicy, and entirely flavorful! The only underwhelming dish was the Okra as it was coated with too much of the masala to where the vegetable itself was hidden. The tastes and flavors were precisely what one expects of an Andhra-staffed restaurant. Service was very friendly when available, but disorganized/distracted, overall. 2-3 waitstaff would be hanging around the bar area chatting, while we would be gesturing to get their attention. Observed little if any proactive checking on tables for water refills or otherwise , once the food was served. Certainly no proactive checks at our table. Staff need to be dedicated to certain tasks including assigned to sections of tables (like in any American restaurant) so that they can monitor and serve in an organized manner. No one seemed to be in charge and there was unnecessary duplication of effort or gaps in service. Nothing that cannot be fixed with some organization and training. Secondly, would be good to have the staff dressed smartly in company uniforms - staff were dressed in polos or other attire rather randomly, and as such did not project a professional image. Just some constructive feedback for improvement. Overall, the experience was great - quantity and quality were excellent, although a bit pricey ($92 including a good tip). Glad we visited, plan to return soon.

The Monks Indian Bistro, tucked away at 1530 Texas Ave S in College Station, is a true gem for lovers of authentic Indian and Indo-Chinese cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the inviting ambiance and warm hospitality set the stage for a memorable dining experience.

The menu is a vibrant tapestry of flavors, featuring standout dishes like the Chicken Dynamite Biryani—a bold, spicy masterpiece that perfectly balances heat and seasoning. The street-style wings, coated with a fiery red spice blend, deliver an explosion of Indian roadside flavors that linger pleasantly on the palate. Equally impressive are their samosas, paired expertly with chutneys, and the Fiery Schezwan Chicken, which shines as both a starter and a complement to fried rice or noodles.

What truly elevates The Monks is the chef’s flair for creativity and authenticity. Dishes like the lamb fry biryani and chicken Manchurian showcase careful attention to seasoning and texture, though the lamb meat sometimes skews a bit dry, the overall flavor remains deeply satisfying. The Indo-Chinese offerings bring the bustling street food culture of India into a refined setting without losing their vibrant essence.

Complementing the meal are thoughtfully curated beverages like mango lassi and sitaphal shake, adding a refreshing contrast to the spice-laden fare. The complementary apricot delight dessert is a sweet note that completes the culinary journey here.

Service is swift and attentive, with staff ready to answer questions and guide you through the diverse menu options. The Monks Indian Bistro stands out not just for its authenticity and bold flavors but for creating an experience that feels both genuine and welcoming. For anyone in College Station craving richly seasoned, flavorful Indian and Indo-Chinese dishes, this bistro is a must-visit destination I wholeheartedly recommend.
